Egypt urges halt to Israeli violations in Lebanon, full Lebanese army authority

CAIRO – 26 November 2025: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for an end to repeated Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and voiced support for enabling the Lebanese army to fully assume its responsibilities across the country’s entire territory.

During talks on Wednesday with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Beirut, the foreign minister underscored the need for the full and simultaneous implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 without selectivity.

He noted that Egypt is closely monitoring the situation in southern Lebanon and is using its regional and international contacts to support de-escalation efforts and prevent any further deterioration that could threaten the country’s security and stability.

 

Despite a ceasefire agreed with Hezbollah late last year to end cross-border hostilities and Israeli ground incursions in the Arab nation, Israel has continued near-daily raids on southern Lebanon.

Israeli attacks since then have killed dozens of civilians since then, according to UN estimates, despite claims that the attacks target Hezbollah members.

Israeli forces have continued occupation of the five locations in southern Lebanon in violation of the agreement.

In one of the deadliest attacks on southern Lebanon, an Israeli strike targeted the Ain al-Hilweh camp for Palestinian refugees on Tuesday, killing 13 people including 11 children.

All of those killed in the strike were civilians, according to Thameen Al-Kheetan, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
