Egypt inaugurates first mobile slaughterhouse

CAIRO – 15 November 2025: Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, Manal Awad, inaugurated Egypt’s first mobile slaughterhouse on Saturday, marking the first implementation of such a facility in the country.

The Ministry is overseeing its design and financing under a contract with a general contracting and commercial investment company to supply two fully equipped, air-conditioned mobile slaughterhouses.

The initiative comes in line with directives from Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, instructing the Ministry of Local Development to provide mobile slaughterhouses for cattle and livestock in areas lacking permanent facilities, as well as in remote and border regions. 

The mobile units will also handle imported livestock, ensuring the supply of safe meat to meet the needs of citizens.
