Egypt to issue new series of Grand Egyptian Museum commemorative coins; Prices announces

CAIRO – 13 November 2025: Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk decided to issue more commemorative coins for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) to meet the growing demand for them inside and outside Egypt.

Chairman of the Treasury and Mint Authority Gamal Hussein said there are various distinguished types of gold and silver commemorative coins that document the most important landmarks of GEM, catering to the desires of citizens and tourists alike.

He added that the sale of these commemorative coins began days ago with secured certificates at the Mint Authority outlet in Cairo, witnessing significant demand.

He noted that the prices for these commemorative coins made of gold are: LE 84,000 for the one-pound denomination, LE 273,000 for the five-pound denomination, LE 420,000 for the ten-pound denomination, LE 472,500 for the twenty-five-pound denomination, LE 498,750 for the fifty-pound denomination, and LE 551,250 for the one-hundred-pound denomination.

For silver coins, prices are: LE 2,580 for the one pound, LE 3,010 for the five pounds, LE 3,440 for the ten pounds, 4,042 pounds for the twenty-five pounds, 4,300 pounds for the fifty pounds, and 5,160 pounds for the one hundred pounds.

The ministry said coordination is underway with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to produce new commemorative editions of the most important archaeological exhibits of the museum, as part of a comprehensive plan to revive and document Egyptian historical symbols.

He pointed out that there is a target to expand the sale of commemorative coins through the website, in response to the high demand which reflects the global status of GEM
