CAIRO – 12 November 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Wednesday co-chaired the first meeting of the Egypt-Turkey Planning Group, which is held in Ankara with the participation of senior officials from various ministries and relevant bodies of both countries.

In his address, Abdelatty emphasized the depth of historical relations binding Egypt and Turkey, noting that his current visit to Turkey is his third this year - a reflection of the growing momentum in bilateral relations and both sides’ keenness to strengthen strategic cooperation across various fields.

He expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and pointed out that the reciprocal visits made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Cairo in February 2024 and by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Ankara in September of the same year have laid the foundation for a new phase of cooperation between the two countries.

These visits followed the reactivation of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the signing of 15 memoranda of understanding covering a wide range of political, economic, and cultural areas.

Abdelatty said the meeting represents an important step toward turning the directives of both countries’ leaderships into concrete actions that promote bilateral cooperation.

He noted that senior officials from both sides held in-depth discussions on potential cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, economic development, energy, mineral resources, transport, industry, education, tourism, communications, and information technology.

He affirmed that the outcomes achieved so far provide a solid foundation for elevating bilateral relations to the level of a full strategic partnership.

The foreign minister also noted that the holding of the group comes in preparation for the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, scheduled to be held in Cairo in 2026.

He reiterated Egypt’s political leadership’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Turkey across all domains.

Abdelatty highlighted the importance of continued coordination between the relevant ministries in both countries to ensure close follow-up on what has been agreed upon and to advance cooperation to a higher level.

He praised the depth of consultation and understanding between Egypt and Turkey regarding various regional and international issues of mutual interest.

He concluded by expressing Egypt’s aspiration to continue coordination with Turkey in a manner that contributes to enhancing stability, peace, and development in the region.
