CAIRO – 9 November 2025: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning on Sunday urging Egyptian nationals in Mali to exercise caution, limit movement, and comply with local laws and regulations.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry emphasized that Egyptians in Mali should keep their identification documents handy and reduce unnecessary movements. It warned against travel from the capital, Bamako, to other cities or regions.

The ministry said it is closely following up on the current developments in Mali and the situation of Egyptians there.

Through the Egyptian Embassy in Bamako, the ministry continues to make every effort to support the Egyptian community, and maintains necessary communications with the relevant authorities in Mali to monitor their situation and respond promptly, the statement added.

The ministry also provided emergency contact numbers for Egyptian citizens in Mali, including the Egyptian Embassy in Mali, which can be reached via WhatsApp at (0022382189158) or by landline at (0022320223565), as well as the consular hotline at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, available on WhatsApp at (00201226858000).

Mali is facing escalating violence from Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents, including recent kidnappings of foreign nationals and a blockade on fuel imports that has disrupted daily life across the country.

The United States, Italy and France have recently warned their citizens to leave Mali amid heightened security concerns.
