UPDATED: Egyptian prime minister inaugurates key industrial projects in Sokhna Industrial Zone

Al Sokhna – 26 October 2025: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited the integrated industrial zone in Al-Sokhna, part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, to inaugurate and inspect several key industrial projects.

The tour began with the opening of Kemet integrated industries, a factory specializing in the production, manufacturing, and bottling of ethanol.

Romani Nabil, the factory’s chairman, noted that the facility covers an area of 1,575 square meters, with an investment cost of $4 million.

The plant has an annual production capacity of about 2 million liters and employs 30 direct workers, in addition to 15 indirect staff.

 

During the visit, Madbouly also inaugurated Sinai Medical Supplies factory, which manufactures medical gloves from nitrile, as part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to localize strategic industries and strengthen value chains in the medical supplies sector.

Hossam Refaat, the factory’s executive director, said the facility has an annual production capacity of around 60 million medical gloves.

Dr. Fakhr Nour, chairperson of the factory, highlighted the plant’s role in reducing reliance on imported essential medical supplies, particularly gloves.

 

The factory spans 1,215 square meters, with an investment cost of $4 million, and provides 100 direct jobs.

During his tour, Madbouly also inaugurated the ADO MENA Construction Materials, a factory specialized in producing plastic (PVC) profiles for windows.

The facility covers an area of 55,100 square meters and was established with Turkish investments amounting to $15 million.

 

The factory consists of two main sections: the first dedicated to manufacturing PVC windows, with an annual production capacity of 15,000 tons; and the second, currently being prepared, will produce doors starting January next year, with an expected capacity of 75,000 doors annually.

The project is expected to create around 100 direct job opportunities in its initial phase.

Additionally, Madbouly witnessed the reoperation of the Egyptian Anode Blocks Company (Egypt Anode) in Sokhna, one of the subsidiaries of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company under the Ministry of Public Business Sector, following the completion of a comprehensive rehabilitation project.

The carbon anode is a key consumable component in the aluminum smelting process.

 

Mohamed El Saadawy, the holding company’s head, noted that the total market size for anodes in the Middle East and Africa stands at 3.34 million tons, of which 2 million tons are currently produced, leaving a production gap of about 1.34 million tons.

Egypt, however, has achieved self-sufficiency in anodes, with an output of around 0.144 million tons, he added.

Madbouly’s visit to Sokhna Industrial Zone followed his inspection of a number of service and development projects in the Suez Governorate earlier on the day.
