CAIRO - 14 October 2025: From the land of Egypt, the sun of peace rises once again over the Middle East, bringing hope for lasting security in Gaza and renewed optimism for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The city of peace, Sharm El-Sheikh, hosted a historic summit marking the end of the Israeli war on Gaza, where the United States—Israel’s main guarantor—and the mediators, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, signed the Gaza Agreement Document. The accord ushered in a new chapter for the region, with international pledges toward peace, stability, and reconstruction.
World leaders gathered in South Sinai, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, alongside Arab, Islamic, and European counterparts, to reaffirm collective commitment to peace and rebuilding Gaza under international guarantees.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi, former Egyptian foreign minister, said the high-level attendance reflected “global appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role under President El-Sisi in reaching the Trump Peace Plan and ending the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.”
He added that Egypt led negotiations “from a position of leadership, not mere mediation,” leveraging its experience and credibility with all parties. “True strength,” he said, “is not in the number of bullets fired, but in the ability to stop the war.”
El-Orabi stressed that President El-Sisi’s early opposition to displacement plans and his efforts to mobilize international support for Palestinian statehood were key to the agreement. Since the Cairo Peace Conference in 2023, Egypt has tirelessly advocated that “true peace will only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.”
Ambassador Amr Ramadan, former Assistant Foreign Minister, said the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit’s joint chairmanship by Presidents El-Sisi and Trump “signifies a united regional and global commitment.” The participation of Arab, Islamic, and Western leaders, he noted, provides “a real guarantee” for implementing the peace plan and ensuring Israel’s compliance.
He described the 20-point “Trump Peace Plan” as reflecting “an unprecedented international consensus and a genuine desire to end the cycle of violence in the Middle East.”
Former Egyptian Ambassador to Palestine Yasser Othman added that the summit “crowned two years of Egyptian, regional, and international efforts to end the war and save the Palestinian cause from liquidation.” He emphasized that its location and attendance “underscore Egypt’s standing and leadership in achieving peace and stability for the region.”
Othman concluded that this historic achievement “reaffirms Egypt’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and its people.”
