Gaza under Israeli aggression - file
CAIRO - 13 October 2025: Hamas announced that the Al-Qassam Brigades and the resistance in the Gaza Strip have released 20 Israeli prisoners held by the resistance, as part of the implementation of the first phase of the Trump plan to stop the war on the Gaza Strip.
With this step, Hamas affirmed its commitment to fulfilling its obligations, and emphasized the importance of mediators working to ensure that the Zionist enemy complies with its commitments under the agreement and to complete the implementation of all its provisions.
Hamas explained that the release of the heroic prisoners, including those serving life sentences and long sentences who had spent decades behind bars, is the fruit of the heroism and steadfastness of the great Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their sons in the valiant resistance. It is a fulfillment of the resistance's pledge to its people and prisoners, and an embodiment of the will to liberation that will not be broken by the brutality of the neo-Nazis.
Hamas added: "Over the course of two years of a war of extermination and destruction, Netanyahu and his army failed to free their prisoners by force. He was ultimately forced to submit to the resistance's conditions, which emphasized that the only way to return their captive soldiers was through a prisoner exchange deal and an end to the war of extermination."
Hamas continued: "The resistance has made every effort to preserve the lives of the occupation's prisoners, despite the attempts of the war criminal Netanyahu and his terrorist army to target and eliminate them. This comes at a time when our prisoners in the occupation's prisons are subjected to all forms of abuse, including torture, ill-treatment, and murder."
