CAIRO – 4 October 2025: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave directives to accelerate the completion of the additional electrical power supply system for the "New Delta" project and the agricultural sector in general.
The President’s instructions aim to ensure the provision of Egypt’s strategic crops amid regional and international challenges. The President emphasized the importance of regularly updating the national energy security plan.
President Sisi’s directives were given during a meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly; Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Eng. Mahmoud Esmat; Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt’ Authority for Sustainable Development Colonel Dr. Bahaa El-Ghannam.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President followed up on the joint work progress between the Ministries of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development, particularly regarding the provision of electrical power to the new agricultural projects supervised by the authority, foremost among them the "New Delta" project.
The meeting discussed the developments in the establishment of the necessary electrical transformer stations for reclaimed agricultural areas, as part of the state’s efforts to enhance food security, alongside monitoring the coordination between the two ministries to secure the fuel required to operate electricity production stations.
President El-Sisi also reviewed the developments in implementing the national energy strategy until 2040, the national renewable energy strategy, and the status of clean energy projects, including enhancing reliance on them within the national energy mix and reducing the use of fossil fuels, given the state's great attention to the energy sector.
Procedures underway to improve the quality of electrical supply and reduce current loss, especially in distribution networks, were also presented to ensure sustainability and stability. In this regard, the President stressed the necessity to continue work according to the comprehensive plan to achieve energy security and expand reliance on clean and renewable energy sources.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed the importance of government efforts to secure petroleum supplies necessary to ensure the continuous operation of electricity stations without interruption, stressing the need to increase the share of new and renewable energy within the national energy mix.
The President also directed to intensify efforts to attract more investments in the energy sector to help achieve its targets and foster its role in driving development, alongside accelerating the pace of work on ongoing renewable energy projects, aiming to diversify supply sources and advance the localization of industries related to this vital and strategic sector.
