CAIRO – 29 September 2025: In an urgent humanitarian response to the worsening famine in the besieged Gaza Strip, the Egyptian Committee in Gaza distributed thousands of packages of baby formula on Monday. The aid was delivered to hospitals, displacement camps, and shelters, aiming to save the lives of infants and young children suffering due to severe shortages.

The famine is a result of Israel’s continued closure of all border crossings, which has blocked the entry of essential goods—including baby formula and milk—for internally displaced Palestinians. This blockade has occurred alongside relentless bombardment of civilian areas, besides genocidal and systematically targeting the population through starvation.

Last week, the Egyptian Committee acted swiftly to rescue two Palestinian children whose story went viral on social media. A widely shared video shows an older child carrying his younger brother on his shoulders, walking barefoot along a road crowded with displaced families fleeing the bombardment.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, 50 people were killed and 184 others injured over the past 24 hours alone, bringing the total number of casualties since October 7, 2023, to 66,055 deaths and 168,346 injuries.

Many victims remain trapped under rubble or lying on the streets, unreachable by ambulance and civil defense crews due to ongoing attacks. At several aid distribution points, five civilians were fatally shot and 48 others wounded by Israeli forces.
