CAIRO – 25 September 2025: The Egyptian National Security Border Guard Forces have conducted multiple operations targeting criminal elements, smugglers, and outlaws across all the strategic directions of the country, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced in a statement on Thursday.
During these operations, the forces successfully seized 147 firearms, 51 magazines, and 2,031 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. They also confiscated 12.6 tons of narcotic substances, 191,900 narcotic pills, and 118.5 acres of land cultivated with illegal drug crops. This is in addition to 355 vehicles of various types, five motorcycles, and three floats, along with 566 mobile phones containing data, and large quantities of goods that were found to be untaxed and without proper customs documentation.
The forces also managed to foil numerous illegal gold prospecting attempts, resulting in the confiscation of 44 tons of stones containing gold ore, 105 electricity generators, 50 Hilti drilling devices, 25 metal detectors, and 28 tons of fuel used in illicit operations.
In a related development, naval units operating within Egypt’s Southern Fleet intercepted a smuggling attempt at sea, successfully seizing a boat carrying 7,792 bundles of hashish and 17 rolls of THC-based narcotics. The estimated value of the confiscated items is approximately LE 1.164 billion, excluding the value of weapons seized during the operations. All confiscated materials have been handed over to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.
These operations highlight the continued efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces to safeguard national security, confront organized crime, and protect the country’s borders by land and sea.
