CAIRO – 13 September 2025: Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) is currently in negotiations with China’s FAMSUN Group and Canada’s IMGS Group to establish a global food logistics center in Port Fuad, located in the Port Said Governorate.

The Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, Admiral Osama Rabie, held an extended meeting with Imran Ali Khan, CEO of the Canadian IMGS Group — a company specializing in logistics and port services — along with a high-level delegation from China’s FAMSUN Group, a leading agricultural engineering company. The meeting focused on establishing a tripartite partnership aimed at enhancing food security as part of the development projects surrounding the Suez Canal.

Admiral Rabie announced that a cooperation protocol is expected to be signed soon between the three parties. The agreement will outline responsibilities and tasks, and set the framework for completing the project's technical and financial studies.

Imran Ali Khan expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with the Suez Canal Authority, highlighting the strategic advantage of the canal’s prime geographic location at the crossroads of global trade. He emphasized that the planned logistics hub would significantly contribute to the sustainability of global food supply chains and serve as a vital link for international suppliers.

He further noted the importance of leveraging the canal’s infrastructure to streamline transportation and ensure the resilience of food security systems.

Additionally, the Chairman of IMGS reaffirmed the group’s readiness to share its technical expertise and knowledge in support of Egypt’s efforts to become a regional hub for food security. He described Egypt as an ideal gateway for engagement with markets in the Middle East and Africa.
