CAIRO – 22 August 2025: People across Egypt should brace for a temporary spike in temperatures early next week, with Cairo expected to experience sweltering feels-like highs touching 40°C.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), a slight and temporary rise in temperatures will affect most parts of the country on Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures along the northern coast will remain hot throughout the week, but still within a bearable range, with feels-like highs reaching up to 35°C.

Humidity levels will add to the discomfort, especially in northern areas and coastal cities, where the weather will feel muggy and oppressive at times.

However, this heatwave is expected to be short-lived. Starting Monday, temperatures will begin to drop gradually.

By Tuesday and Wednesday, feels-like highs in Cairo are expected to retreat to 37°C, offering some relief to residents.

The EMA also warned of morning fog from Sunday to Thursday, particularly along highways leading to and from Greater Cairo, the northern coasts, and central Sinai.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution, especially during early commutes.

Additionally, moderate wind activity between Sunday and Wednesday may help slightly alleviate the heat in some areas during the night.

Here is a snapshot of expected feels-like highs for major regions:

- Cairo: Peaking at 40°C on Sunday, dropping to 37°C through Thursday

- North Coast: Hovering around 34–35°C

- Northern Upper Egypt: Up to 41°C on Sunday

- Southern Upper Egypt: Scorching highs of 44°C on Sunday.

The public is urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and monitor updates from the EMA as the week progresses.
