CAIRO – 17 August 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa will visit the Rafah border crossing at the Egyptian side and review efforts to facilitate the entry of relief and humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip.
Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has arrived in Cairo on Saturday, and is scheduled to travel to the city of El-Arish on Monday, accompanied by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, according to a statement from the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo on Sunday.
This visit aims to consolidate efforts to reach an urgent agreement for a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, opening the border crossings, and facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid, the statement added.
The statement continued: “The visit comes in light of the State of Palestine's readiness to assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, establishing a single political system, a single law, and a single weapon, and halting the settlement and colonial expansion projects aimed at eliminating the chances of establishing an independent Palestinian state.”
The visit also aims to ensure the success of the tireless efforts of Egypt and a number of and friendly countries to stop the war, provide protection and relief to the Palestinian people, and rebuild what has been destroyed.
Furthermore, the visit targets opening a political horizon leading to an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, under the umbrella and leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people inside and outside Palestine, the statement added.
The Palestinian prime minister is accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, including Minister of Interior Ziad Hab Al-Rih, Minister of Health Maged Abu Ramadan, Minister of Planning Estephan Salameh, Minister of Social Development and Relief Samah Hamad, and Ambassador of Palestine to Egypt Diab Al-Louh.
