CAIRO – 13 August 2025: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and many officials and public figures performed the funeral prayers for former Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi, at the Police Mosque in Sheikh Zayed on Wednesday.
The funeral was attended by several ministers, including Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik, Minister of Defense Abdel Maguid Saqr, Minister of Awqaf (Reliegious Endowments) Osama Al-Azhari, and Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs Mahmoud Fawzi.
Former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and former Minister of Defense Mohamed Zaki also stood in the front row during the funeral prayer.
Renowned Islamic scholar and former Grand Mufti of Egypt Ali Gomaa led the prayer.
Following the funeral prayers, Madbouly offered his condolences to the family of Moselhi, expressing deep sorrow for their loss and praying that Allah grant him His vast mercy and provide his loved ones with patience and comfort.

The Cabinet began its weekly meeting today with a minute of silence to mourn Moselhi’s passing.
Moselhi passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76.
His death comes less than a year after he was diagnosed with cancer in October 2024, a few months after he left his ministerial post and was succeeded by minister Sherif Farouk in the latest Cabinet reshuffle.
Speaking during a Quran memorization ceremony last March in Abu Kabir village, his hometown in Sharqia governorate, he shared that he initially experienced severe headaches, which led to medical tests revealing brain fluid buildup and a tumor in the right lung lobe.
He underwent six chemotherapy sessions over six months.

Moselhi first served as minister of social solidarity in 2005 during the tenure of late President Hosni Mubarak and held the position until February 2011.
He returned to government in 2017 as minister of supply and internal trade, a post he held until the most recent cabinet reshuffle in July 2024.
Moselhi is remembered for his long-standing public service and dedication to state institutions throughout his career.
