CAIRO - 9 August 2025: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty Saturday said that Egypt and Turkey are sharing almost identical views on ways of addressing crises and challenges facing the region.

Abdelatty made the remarks during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan Saturday in New Alamein City.

Abdelatty welcomed Fidan and his accompanying delegation and praised the constructive consultations held earlier in the day, which reflected the close ties between the two countries.

The top Turkish diplomat was received Saturday morning by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who discussed with him all aspects of bilateral relations and a number of regional crises and challenges, Abdelatty said.

During a meeting, Fidan listened to President Sisi’s vision on these aforementioned issues, Abdelatty said.

He added that the Turkish Foreign Minister’s visit comes at a critical time, coinciding with the centennial of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Turkey.

Celebrating this milestone reflects the depth of bilateral ties and the shared understanding of the need for coordination to strengthen cooperation, most notably through the launch of the high-level strategic council, co-chaired by President Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which was inaugurated during President Sisi’s visit to Ankara in September.

"Egyptian–Turkish relations are now entering an important stage of strategic convergence, founded on candor, driven by coordination, and aimed at serving the interests of both countries and the region in a way that promotes development, prosperity, security, and stability in this turbulent part of the world," said Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdelatty.

He added that joint coordination seeks to achieve regional security and stability, noting: “We believe that candor is the key to genuine partnership, and that sincere political will can open every door to broader and more constructive cooperation.”

Abdelatty also described his talks Saturday with his Turkish counterpart Fidan as “fruitful and constructive,” adding that the discussions covered bilateral cooperation and a shared desire to advance it in all fields.

Abdelatty and Fidan agreed to convene the joint working group before the end of the year in preparation for the next session of the high-level strategic council, scheduled for next year, when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to visit Egypt for the council’s second session.

The two sides affirmed the importance of boosting economic relations, with Abdelatty emphasizing that Egypt welcomes Turkish investments in various sectors.

He underscored the Egyptian government is committed to providing all possible support to Turkish companies and removing any obstacles.

The talks touched on cooperation in the fields of energy, transport, education and culture.

Meanwhile, the top Egyptian diplomat expressed Egypt’s gratitude for Turkey's full support of the Arab and Muslim world as well as the African Union candidate Khaled el Anany for the post of Director-General of the UNESCO.

As regards regional issues of mutual concern, Abdelatty said that the meeting tackled developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

He briefed his Turkish counterpart on Egypt’s tireless efforts to achieve a complete and permanent ceasefire and address the humanitarian disaster caused by Israel’s “irresponsible policies and genocidal war” against the Palestinian people.

The meeting also addressed the recent Israeli cabinet decision to expand occupation and military control over the Gaza Strip, with Abdelatty stressing that both sides agreed to fully condemn this decision.

Abdelatty added that he and his Turkish counterpart underscored the importance of joint action and concerted efforts to confront it by all means in addition to intensifying regional and international pressure on Israel to deter it from carrying out such a move.
