No complaints or violations reported in 1st day of Senate elections’ abroad

CAIRO – 1 August 2025: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Nabil Habashi said the Foreign Ministry's operations room is continuously monitoring the progress of the Egyptian Senate elections abroad.

In a statement issued Friday, Habashi said the voting process began smoothly with the opening of the first polling station in New Zealand at midnight Cairo time, followed by the opening of polling centers in several Asian, Arab, European, and African countries.

He said the polling stations in the Arab countries have seen a notable turnout that reflects Egyptians’ strong commitment to participating in this national obligation.

Voting is expected to begin in the Americas within the next hour, in line with time zone differences.

No hurdles have been reported so far regarding the opening of polling stations or the printing of ballots, he added, praising the ongoing coordination with Egypt’s National Election Authority, which has facilitated the logistical and technical process.

The ministry has set up a 24-hour operations room to coordinate between diplomatic missions worldwide and the electoral commission, ensuring the smooth flow of voting procedures abroad.

Since the start of the voting abroad, no complaints or violations had been reported that could impact the integrity of the vote, he said.

A higher voter turnout is expected on Saturday, especially in Western countries as it coincides with the weekend
