CAIRO – 24 July 2025: The Egyptian capital and many regions across the country are experiencing extreme heat and felt-like temperatures are expected to remain above 40°C at least until next Tuesday.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts extremely hot and humid weather nationwide during the day, with hot and humid conditions along the North Coast and warm temperatures during the night and early morning.

The North Coast, typically a refuge for summer vacationers, will see felt-like temperatures climbing to 37°C on some days, a concern for visitors to Alexandria and Matrouh.

From today through next Tuesday, felt-like temperatures in Cairo will range from 42-43°C, 2-3 degrees higher than the actual shade temperature due to high humidity levels.

In Upper Egypt, conditions are even more intense, with felt-like temperatures reaching 43-45°C during the day in northern areas and peaking at 46°C in the southern regions, including Luxor and Aswan.

During this heatwave, the EMA advises against direct sun exposure from midday to 5 PM. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of cold fluids, wear loose cotton clothing, and use a cap if you must go outside.

Remember to seek shade whenever possible, and don’t forget: cold showers are your best friend in this heat.
