President of Turkish Diyanet visits Al Azhar Mosque

CAIRO – 21 July 2025: President of Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) in Turkey Ali Erbaş and his accompanying delegation visited Al-Azhar Mosque in Old Cairo, on Monday, on the sidelines of his visit to Egypt.

Erbaş was briefed on the educational activities of the Al-Azhar, where he observed Quran memorization sessions and lessons in Islamic and Arabic sciences. 

He also listened to a detailed explanation of these activities, expressing his gratitude for the significant services Al-Azhar Mosque provides to Muslims. He concluded his visit with a look at the history of the venerable mosque.

He was given a brief on the history of the ancient Al-Azhar Mosque, which dates back more than 1,080 years, during which it spread the message of tolerant Islam across the world.
