CAIRO – 18 July 2025: The Youth Loves Egypt (YLE) Foundation was officially accredited as an observer to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Conference of the Parties (COP), becoming one of the internationally recognized civil entities participating in global efforts to combat desertification and land degradation.
This historic accreditation reflects international confidence in the YLE’s leading role in environmental protection and enhances the involvement of Egyptian youth in global environmental forums, especially in light of the increasing climate challenges facing our region and the world.
The YLE Founder Ahmed Fathy stated that this achievement is the culmination of years of fieldwork, national and international partnerships, and awareness campaigns driven by the passion and belief of Egyptian youth in the possibility of change.
Fathy noted that, under this accreditation, the YLE will participate in the sessions of the COP and its subsidiary bodies, contribute to the formulation of global policies related to combating desertification, and represent Egyptian and Arab youth in international environmental discussions. The foundation will also work on enhancing the role of civil society in achieving sustainable development goals.

The YLE views youth empowerment as a necessity, rather than an option, to address environmental and climate crises, Fathy stressed. He added that the foundation will leverage this accreditation to amplify its voices, activate its diverse initiatives, and open new avenues for regional and international cooperation.
