CAIRO – 12 July 2025: Israel has killed 59 Palestinians in Gaza on Saturday, including 31 who were shot dead while making their way to a humanitarian aid distribution center, the AP reported, citing hospital officials and witnesses.

Moreover, 28 Palestinians have been killed in airstrikes, including four children.

The sources said 31 were shot dead while en route to a distribution center run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is backed by Israel, located near Rafah in southern Gaza.

The Red Cross announced that its field hospital experienced the highest influx of casualties in over a year following the gunfire, with the vast majority of the more than 100 injured individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

The American newly-established Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has been delivering aid since the end of May, despite objection by the UN agencies.

The UN has described the foundation establishment as "an attempt to circumvent the UN and its agencies on the ground, foremost UNRWA," failing to adhere to the principle of independence.

Hamas has called the organization’s distribution centers “death traps” with hundreds of aid seekers killed near them.

Officials at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital also reported today that airstrikes in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza resulted in the deaths of 13 people, including four children.

Another 15 were killed in Khan Younis to the south, according to Nasser Hospital. The Israeli army did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Intensive airstrikes continued on Saturday evening in the Beit Hanoun area in northern Gaza.

Israeli forces continue to kill dozens of Palestinians in Gaza every day despite growing hope for a possible ceasefire soon.

Since the start of the Gaza war, Israel has killed 57,882 Palestinians, including 7,311 since Israeli forces in March shattered a ceasefire brokered by mediators that led to the release of dozens of Israeli captives and allowed thousands of aid trucks to access the famine-stricken enclave.
