At least 10 people have died and 10 more were injured on Saturday as two microbuses crashed on the Regional Ring Road, 5 July 2025
CAIRO – 5 July 2025: The government announced the allocation of LE 300,000 for the family of each deceased victim of a road crash that occurred on Saturday on the Regional Ring Road in Menoufia Governorate, located in the Nile Delta.
The road, which connects many governorates across Egypt, has recently experienced several deadly accidents. In today’s incident, at least 10 people died, and another 10 were injured when two microbuses carrying factory workers collided.
Initially, the death toll stood at nine for several hours before one of the 11 injured succumbed to their injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the microbus drivers was traveling in the opposite direction, leading to the collision.
This crash follows another tragic incident last week, when a truck collided with a microbus in the same governorate, resulting in the deaths of 18 young female workers and one man.
A drug test on a sample taken from the truck driver confirmed that he was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident, according to the Public Prosecution.

The ministries of Social Solidarity and Labor have urged the relevant authorities to expedite the disbursement of compensation for the families of the deceased, as well as for the injured based on medical assessments.
Presidential directives
In the wake of today’s incident, President Abdel Fattah Sisi instructed the government to consider necessary actions to close the Regional Ring Road in areas undergoing efficiency upgrades and maintenance.
In a statement from the Presidency, Sisi emphasized the importance of providing appropriate and safe alternatives for the areas designated for closure to ensure citizen safety and expedite the completion of ongoing works.
Additionally, he directed the Ministry of Interior to swiftly implement legal measures against traffic violators and to intensify efforts to enforce discipline and adherence to the law on all roads, particularly regarding speed and load limits, to protect the lives and property of citizens.
Following last week’s crash, Sisi had already directed the government to closely monitor road maintenance and repairs, especially on the Regional Ring Road, and to expedite the implementation of these works.
He also instructed that clear signage be posted in repair areas and that road reroutes be effectively communicated.
The president called for the immediate removal of barriers that contribute to accidents on these roads and for enhanced speed monitoring.
