CAIRO – 4 July 2025: For the first time, Egypt’s National Elections Authority [NEA] has allocated information panels within subcommittees for people with disabilities, said the NEA Executive Director Judge Ahmed Bandari.

The panels include Braille instructions for the visually impaired and others for the hearing impaired, enabling them to know the number of candidates in each constituency.

The panels have also been equipped with a QR code for easy viewing on mobile phones.

Tomorrow, Saturday, marks the first day for submitting nomination applications for individuals wishing to run in the Senate elections.

The Senate will comprise 300 members: two-thirds will be elected by direct and secret voting, while the remaining one-third will be appointed by the President. A minimum of 10% of the total seats will be allocated to women.

Egypt is divided into 27 constituencies for individual-member elections and four constituencies for list-based elections. Two of the list constituencies will each be allocated 13 seats, while the remaining two will each be allocated 37 seats.

Approximately 68 million citizens are eligible to vote in the Senate elections, due to convene on August 4 and 5, 2025, announced the National Elections Authority (NEA) on Thursday.

On July 1, 2025, the National Elections Authority urged all eligible Egyptian citizens—both at home and abroad—to participate actively in the Senate elections. The authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, inclusive, and lawful electoral process.
