CAIRO – 3 July 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty has affirmed Egypt’s aspiration to host an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza after the desired establishment of a ceasefire.

In a phone call with France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot on Thursday, Abdelatty highlighted the developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts aimed at resuming a sustainable ceasefire and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid.

The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in halting the Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.

He underscored the seriousness of the situation in the West Bank amid ongoing military incursions, arrests, and the expansion of illegal settlements.

Abdelatty reiterated the necessity of achieving a just and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian cause through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Their talks regarding Gaza come while US President Donald Trump stated this week that Egypt and Qatar will deliver a 60-day ceasefire proposal, which he said has been accepted by Israel.

Hamas said on Wednesday it is currently discussing proposals from the Arab mediators to reach an agreement that ensures an end to the Israeli aggression and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, while providing urgent relief of people in the enclave.

Israeli forces continue to kill dozens of Palestinian civilians every day across Gaza amid absence of accountability, including those seeking aid from the distribution centers of the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an American newly-established organization backed by Israel.

According to Gaza’s health ministry, Israeli forces have so far killed more than 57,000, most of whom are women and children.

Israeli forces resumed bombardment on Gaza on March 18, shattering a two-month ceasefire brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the US and had resulted in the release of 38 captives from Gaza, 30 of whom were alive.

Besides Gaza, both foreign ministers agreed on the importance of Israel and Iran adhering to the recently-reached ceasefire.

They highlighted the need for regional and international collaboration to stabilize this agreement, reduce tensions, and open pathways for diplomatic engagement, contributing to regional security and stability.
