CAIRO – 17 April 2025: Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed Al Yamahi has commended Egypt’s efforts to resume the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza as he met in Cairo on Thursday with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Yamahi praised the leading role undertaken by Egyptian leadership and people in safeguarding Arab national security.

Meanwhile, President Sisi affirmed Egypt's full support for the efforts of the Arab Parliament in achieving its goals, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances facing the Arab world.

The president emphasized that the ongoing developments require concerted efforts to preserve the interests of the Arab world and the capabilities of its peoples.

Yamahi emphasized his aspiration to enhance cooperation with Egypt to serve common Arab issues.

He added that he looks forward to benefiting from Egypt's pioneering parliamentary experience and to intensifying joint cooperation programs with the Egyptian side to improve the performance of the Arab Parliament.

This enhanced collaboration particularly includes the use of modern technologies and other tools that enhance the parliament’s performance, being one of the primary Arab mechanisms for communicating with peoples and taking effective positions to protect the interests of Arab countries.

Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Hanafy Gebaly attended the meeting.
