Egyptian-Qatari Joint statement emphasizes strong relations between two countries

CAIRO – 14 April 2025:  Egypt and Qatar issued a joint statement on Monday following Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Doha and meeting with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

In the statement, both sides confirmed that discussions reflected the depth of bilateral relations, characterized by mutual trust. The discussions addressed ways to develop cooperation in various fields to enhance common interests and open new horizons for integration and partnership.

$7.5B of direct Qatari investments

The two sides emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and agreed to continue joint work to enhance investment and economic exchange.

Egypt and Qatar also affirmed their commitment to supporting the economic partnership between the two countries. As they agreed to work toward a package of direct Qatari investments totaling $7.5 billion, to be implemented over the next phase.

Legitimate rights of Palestinian people

The two sides also emphasized their firm stance toward the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and their right to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with peace initiatives and relevant international resolutions.

The two sides affirmed their support for efforts to achieve Palestinian national reconciliation and the need to unify Palestinian ranks, ensuring the activation of Palestinian state institutions and the fulfillment of the aspirations of the brotherly Palestinian people.

The two leaders also reiterated their full support for the Gaza reconstruction plan and expressed their aspiration for an international conference, hosted by Egypt, in cooperation with regional and international partners.

The two sides expressed their grave concern over the continued escalation in the Gaza Strip and emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to achieve an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and ensure the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to civilians.

Conflict in Sudan

Egypt and Qatar expressed their concern over the ongoing armed conflict in Sudan and emphasized the importance of an immediate cessation of military operations and a return to the comprehensive national dialogue process, in a manner that preserves Sudan's unity and sovereignty.

US and Iran

The two sides welcomed the continuation of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran and affirmed their support for any peaceful efforts aimed at reducing tension in the region and enhancing security and stability.

Qatar supports Egypt’s candidate in UNESCO

Qatar also expressed its support for the nomination of Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Egypt’s candidate, for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in recognition of his academic and cultural career and confidence in his ability to contribute positively to the organization's work.

The two sides also expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral relations during the recent period and emphasized the importance of building on what has been achieved and pushing relations to broader levels, within a framework of mutual respect and a shared vision for a future of security, stability, and prosperity.
