CAIRO – 25 March 2025: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi spoke by phone with the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said that President Sisi was keen to inquire about the health of the Somali President, following the recent heinous attempt targeting his motorcade outside the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
The President also emphasized the full solidarity of the Egyptian leadership and people with the Somali president and the Somali people.
President Sisi confirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the efforts of the Somali government and the Somali National Army in combating terrorism in its comprehensive form, which includes intellectual, social, developmental, and security dimensions.
The President stressed Egypt's keenness to continue joint efforts to explore broader horizons for cooperation in various fields, in light of the close relations and common interests between the two countries.
The Somali president expressed gratitude to President Sisi, and praised Egypt's support for his country. He reaffirmed Somalia's commitment to joint action with Egypt in various fields to achieve the aspirations of the two peoples towards stability and prosperity.
