CAIRO – 13 March 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty received Thursday a phone call from his Thai counterpart Maris Sangiampongsa to discuss bolstering ties on the political, economic and cultural levels.
The two countries had signed in December an MoU on launching a joint commerce committee and setting a plan for economic cooperation, capitalizing on their recent membership in BRICS.
On another level, Minister Sangiampongsa valued Egyptian efforts on releasing the five Thai hostages that had been held by Hamas in Gaza. In that context, Minister Abdelatty presented Egypt's endeavors on stabilizing the ceasefire agreement, and ensuring the implementation of its three stages, stressing the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to the enclave, and paving the way for carrying out early recovery.
The minister equally shed light on the Arab endorsement of the Egyptian reconstruction plan, and Egypt's hosting of an international conference on funding that plan in April in partnership with the United Nations and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
