CAIRO – 12 March 2025: Egypt is experiencing a continued rise in temperatures across most areas, with sunny weather and a heatwave taking over after a stretch of cold snaps that had everyone bundled up in heavy blankets and jackets.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) reports that the country is currently under a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, which means more sunshine and relatively calm winds.

They expect temperatures to gradually climb over the coming days.

Cairo, the Nile Delta, and the North Coast are currently enjoying warm highs around 27°C and lows of 16°C, with forecasts suggesting these will rise to 29°C and 17°C, respectively, by next week.

In Upper Egypt, temperatures are already hitting the late 20s°C for highs and mid-teens°C for lows in the northern regions, soon to reach up to 33°C for highs and 16°C for lows.

Down in southern Upper Egypt, known for its scorching summer temperatures, daytime readings have already surpassed 30°C and are expected to rise to 35°C by the weekend.

This temperature increase comes while the nation embraces today the 12th day of the holy month of Ramadan, where the temperature can really impact Muslims fasting from dawn to sunset. Despite the temperature rise, weather is still moderate, so this is just good news.
