100K visitors registered on Egypt's online platform to treat addiction: Health Minister spox

CAIRO - 8 March 2025: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that 100,897 visitors have registered on the electronic platform of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, since its launch in March 2022 until today.
 
This comes within the framework of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, to provide psychological support services, psychological counseling and addiction treatment, and to work on educating citizens on how to obtain medical consultations related to mental health, through the electronic platform.
 
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the number of electronic questionnaire forms, whose data was completed by users, amounted to 23,744 questionnaires, while the number of "virtual" treatment sessions provided to platform visitors amounted to more than 10,767 sessions.
 
For her part, Dr. Manan Abdel-Maksoud, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, said that the percentage of female visitors to the platform reached 69% compared to 31% of males, stressing that 18% of the platform visitors were married, compared to 82% of unmarried people, noting that the age groups that used the platform the most were teenagers and youth, while the percentage of unemployed users reached 63% compared to 37% of workers across the governorates of the Republic.
 
She stressed that the electronic platform for mental health and addiction treatment aims to provide free mental health and addiction treatment services to all age groups of Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt, which is the first of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean region, calling on all citizens to visit the platform and benefit from the various services provided by the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment via the following link:
