CAIRO – 7 February 2025: Hamas has announced the names of three male Israeli captives set to be freed from Gaza on Saturday as part of the fifth swap under the current ceasefire.

The captives are Eli Sharabi, Ohad Ben Ami, and Or Levy.

In return, Hamas stated that Israel will release 183 Palestinian prisoners, including 111 from the Gaza Strip, who were arrested following the incidents on October 7, 2023.

Among the prisoners are 18 serving life sentences and 54 others with lengthy sentences.

The ceasefire in Gaza took effect on January 19, following over 15 months of Israeli war that devastated the enclave, killing more than 47,000 Palestinians and displacing most of the population.

In this initial phase of the three-phase agreement, Hamas and Israel previously swapped a total of 18 captives—13 Israelis and 5 Thai nationals.

In exchange, Israel released 583 Palestinian prisoners, including many serving life sentences, with the next swap set to increase that number to 766.

More than 70 captives are still held in Gaza.
