Al Azhar Firmly Rejects Schemes to Displace Palestinians

CAIRO – 7 February 2025: Al-Azhar Al Sharif, Egypt’s Top Islamic Sunni Institute, called for a unified Arab and Islamic stance against hollow declarations that seek ‎to strip Palestinians of their inherent right to establish their eternal state.‎

Al-Azhar’s call is a response to statements by several members of the Israeli government regarding the commencement of a plan to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land.

Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, alongside two billion Muslims worldwide, reminds those proposing ‎these illusory schemes - who neither comprehend historical truths, nor respect the ‎sanctity of homeland, nor grasp the meaning of sacrificing life, family, children, and ‎wealth for the land - that they fail to understand what “Gaza” signifies to Palestinians, ‎Muslims, and the free, honorable world, east and west, even amid its destruction.‎

Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif emphasized that these schemes will deceive no one, no matter how ‎naïve or oblivious. The political contexts of the last century, which allowed such ‎deceptions, will not recur on the soil of “beloved Gaza.” The brave, steadfast people of ‎Gaza will never permit their expulsion or accept displacement as compensation for their ‎pure blood.‎

How could they, when Palestinians have demonstrated to the world that they are the ‎rightful owners of their land and a just cause enduring prolonged injustice? Their lives are ‎bound to their homeland's survival and their state's establishment. They will never ‎abandon their land, regardless of the brutality of alliances and crimes committed against ‎them. The occupiers and their backers must realize this truth: Palestine is and will remain ‎an inseparable part of the Arab world and the Middle East. Their plots to obliterate ‎Palestine will stain the history of aggressors and oppressors with eternal shame.‎

Al-Azhar condemned those who champion slogans of freedom and democracy to defend ‎whomever they please and yet conceal these principles when it comes to the legitimate ‎rights of innocent Palestinians. It renews its demand that all Arab and Muslim nations ‎adopt a courageous, unified stance against these unacceptable violations and empty ‎declarations that aim to rob Palestinians of their rightful claim to establish their eternal ‎state, with Jerusalem as its noble capital.‎
