CAIRO- 7 December 2024: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, received Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, on the occasion of his participation in the 22nd edition of the Doha Forum 2024.

 

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his appreciation during the meeting for the important and pioneering role played by the Egyptian state in both the global and regional contexts, particularly in light of the current developments in the region.

 

He also emphasized the importance of continued Egyptian-Qatari cooperation and the solidarity between the two brotherly nations in addressing the challenges posed by ongoing regional developments. He also reiterated his commitment to maintaining open and permanent communication channels with the Egyptian government.

 

In this context, Sheikh Tamim referred to his recent meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, which took place last month on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During that meeting, they discussed several issues of mutual interest, particularly the enhancement of bilateral cooperation in light of regional events.

 

The Emir also highlighted the recent visit of the Qatari Prime Minister to Egypt, stressing the importance of building on this visit and advancing the ongoing work on joint cooperation files between the two countries.

 

For his part, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly conveyed the warm greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Sheikh Tamim. 

 

He expressed the President's sincere desire to further enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries across various sectors, building on the significant progress achieved in Egyptian-Qatari bilateral relations at political, economic, and investment levels in recent months.

 

Madbouly confirmed that consultations will continue with Qatari government working teams to implement the agreements made during the Qatari Prime Minister's visit to Egypt at the end of November. He expressed hope that the discussed projects will be implemented promptly.

 

He also expressed agreement with the importance of joint coordination between the two countries on the various issues currently under consideration, with a focus on advancing the mutual interests of both nations.

 

On behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt, Madbouly attended the opening session of the forum this morning. Held under the theme “The Inevitability of Innovation,” the forum is taking place under the patronage of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha, Qatar, on December 7 and 8, 2024.

 

The opening session featured a speech by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. 

 

He emphasized that the 2024 Doha Forum is convened in the midst of a complex international and regional landscape, highlighting the responsibility of participants to strengthen cooperation frameworks. 

 

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the need to propose innovative solutions to current challenges, explore new opportunities, and ensure that the forum becomes a platform for creative ideas and a catalyst for sustainable peace.

 

During the opening session, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani presented the Doha Forum 2024 Awardto six journalists who have risked their lives covering conflict zones. 

 

The award was given in recognition of their resilience and steadfastness in the face of adversity.

 

The forum brings together a diverse global audience, including world leaders, policymakers, heads of regional and international organizations, and experts. Together, they will discuss pressing global challenges and develop solutions aimed at enhancing innovation and cooperation, with the goal of fostering a more secure, sustainable, and prosperous future.
