Egyptian FM, UN Coordinator discuss quantity, types of aid needed by Gazans

CAIRO – 15 April 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Monday UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza Sigrid Kaag to confer over the updates of the implementation of UN Security Council no. 2720 on creating a UN-monitored aid delivery mechanism and guaranteeing sufficient supply of shipments.

 

Minister Shokry underscored the legal and humanitarian responsibility of international parties with regard to ensuring the execution of UN Security Council resolutions on Gaza Strip. He also stressed the salience of taking seriously the grave humanitarian crisis in the enclave by accomplishing a ceasefire, and opening all border crossings between Israel and Gaza to increase the flow of aid.

 

The minister and the UN official discussed in details all aspects of the humanitarian crisis as well as the quantity and types of aid needed by residents, including those in the North. They also tackled providing the necessary protection to rescue teams.
