CAIRO – 9 April 2024: Rafah Border Crossing will remain opening and operating throughout the days of Eid al-Fitr, to bring humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza according to Egyptian official sources.

The continuous operations of Rafah Border Crossing come in light of the tireless Egyptian efforts to ease the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip since the beginning of October 7th, as the Egyptian crossings operate around the clock to receive humanitarian cases and patients and treat them inside Egyptian hospitals.

On Tuesday, 10 injured Palestinians and 25 escorts coming from the Gaza Strip were reported to cross Rafah Border Crossing to receive treatment at Egyptian hospitals.

Meanwhile, 42 aid trucks loaded with foodstuffs crossed the terminal from the Egyptian side; while 200 similar trucks entered the Gaza Strip through Karm Abu Salem crossing southeast the war-ravaged enclave, according to an official source from the Rafah border terminal.

Four heavy fuel trucks and four gas tank trucks have also entered the Gaza Strip, the same source said.

n a joint opinion article published on Monday, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Jordanian king Abdullah II, and the French president Emanuel Macron say they are adamant that efforts are intensified to meet humanitarian and medical needs for the civilians in Gaza.

They demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, called for the release of Israeli hostages, and cautioned against an invasion in Rafah. They emphasized that such an attack would only exacerbate human suffering and threaten a regional escalation.
