‘Voice of Gaza from Sinai’; mass conference for political parties showing support for Palestine

CAIRO – 25 November 2023: Coinciding with the start of the truce and prisoners exchange agreement in Gaza Strip, a mass conference titled ‘Voice of Gaza from Sinai’ was held at the city of Rafah, which was attended by several political currents and parties along with the official campaign of presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Counselor Mahmoud Fawzi, head of the official campaign for presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said in his speech that since October 7, the Gaza Strip has witnessed bloody events caused by the Israeli occupation, praising the decisive positions of candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the Palestinian cause, which foiled all plans to displace Palestinians to Sinai.

Fawzi added that candidate Sisi has an ambitious, far-sighted vision to revive development in Sinai.

Fawzi noted that Sisi clearly expressed ‘the honorable Egyptian stance’ on the unfortunate events in Gaza and said from the first moment, “We speak one language and not two languages. We reject the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, and we reject the displacement of the Palestinians for any reason to any Place, especially Sinai. As we reject the indiscriminate killing of civilians and we reject the siege of Gaza.”

He explained that candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi repeatedly stressed that the only way to resolve the crisis is to implement international legitimacy resolutions and establish a just and comprehensive peace by establishing an independent Palestinian state whose people have the right to self-determination and whose capital is East Jerusalem.

Hatem Metwally, representative of the youth entities for the campaign of presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, thanked the Egyptian families and the people of North Sinai for the warm welcome.

During his speech, Metwally stressed the unprecedented achievements where are based on a clear vision that aim to empower youth and train them in a modern and practical way.

Former Minister of Immigration, Ambassador Nabila Makram, said that the Egyptian state’s position on the Palestinian issue is ‘consistent’, and the state has proven standing with the Palestinians.

Makram added, in her speech that the Egypt translates human rights slogans into tangible reality.

She expressed her thanks for the efforts of the National Alliance for Civil Development work, Decent Life, the Egyptian Red Crescent, and Long Live Egypt, for efforts preparing aid for the Palestinians.

She stated: “The Palestinian child gave an example of steadfastness and love for his country,” offering tribute to mothers for raising their children.

Representative Tariq Radwan, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee in the House of Representatives, said that members of the House of Representatives and the Senate feel the ‘state of alert’ that the Egyptian state is going through, and the state of anxiety and tension that the Egyptian people have felt during the recent period dur to events in Palestine.

Radwan stated that the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip amounts to ‘genocide’.

Mohamed Fayez Farhat, Director of Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, said that the Egyptian response to the recent crisis in Palestine is an “ideal response and a unique model in dealing with a crisis related to regional national security.”

He explained that the Egyptian state worked to confront the Israeli narrative regarding what happened on October 7, and revealed the moral crisis of the Western system regarding human rights and the claim that Israel is a democratic state.

“The Israeli occupation was keen to establish the right to expand the use of military force outside international law.” Farhat said.
