CAIRO – 20 July 2017: The Ministry of Interior published Thursday on its website the photos of new vehicles used to transport defendants in custody and prisoners from prison to courts and Public Prosecution offices and vice versa.

These new vehicles are buses with an air conditioning system to help passengers endure the summer heat.

The buses were first introduced in the Suez governorate - characterized by very high temperatures - as a step forward to follow the global standards of prisoners transport, preserving their human rights.

Prisoners in Egypt used to be transported in enclosed vehicles with tiny windows with no air conditioning systems or insulation on its inner metal walls to reduce the heat of the long summer season.
