CAIRO – 22 October 2023: The Israeli occupation forces killed 4,741 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since the start of its aggression on October 7, announced the Palestinian Ministry of Health in a statement on Sunday.

Seventy percent of the deaths are women and children, the Ministry added.

A total of 4,651 Palestinians (including 1,903 children and 1,024 women) have been killed in the Gaza Strip by the ongoing Israeli airstrikes, while the number of the injured in the strip reached 14,245 people, the Ministry said.

In the West Bank, Israeli occupation forces killed 90 Palestinians and injured 1,653, the Ministry continued.

The ongoing Israeli shelling also destroyed 250 medical facilities and 164,756 housing units since the outbreak of the war, the Ministry added, clarifying that “these figures don’t reflect the true reality because there are many victims still remain under the rubble.”

The Ministry announced that the first batch of humanitarian aid (20 trucks) entered through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, which constituted only 4 percent of pre-war daily imports.

Cases of smallpox, scabies, and diarrhea were reported due to the bad health environment and the usage of water from unsafe sources.

Forty-three unidentified bodies were buried in a mass grave on Saturday because there are no places in the morgues to keep them until being identified, the statement continued.

Sixty-five percent of the Primary healthcare facilities and 20 percent of the hospitals stopped working, the Ministry continued.

The number of internally displaced Palestinians has been estimated at 1.4 million people, the Ministry said.
