CAIRO - 19 October 2023: In a humanitarian gesture, the Venezuelan government has dispatched 30 tons of aid to the people of Gaza. The aid arrived in Egypt and was transported through El-Arish Airport, marking a significant effort to provide much-needed assistance to Gaza's residents.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil stated that the government of Venezuela had made a direct appeal to the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, urging him to employ all diplomatic efforts to compel Israel to halt the ongoing hostilities immediately. Additionally, Venezuela emphasized the urgent need for Israel to allow the entry of humanitarian and social aid to the people of Gaza without delay.

Upon arrival, the aid shipment was received by officials from the Red Crescent, with coordinated efforts to expedite its entry into the Gaza Strip as swiftly as possible.

The aid package includes essential supplies such as drinking water, first-aid and personal hygiene items, surgical medical supplies, mattresses, water pumps, gloves, and non-perishable food items. These provisions are critical for addressing the pressing humanitarian needs of the people in Gaza, who have been affected by recent conflicts and are in dire need of assistance.

This humanitarian initiative from Venezuela demonstrates solidarity with the people of Gaza and calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities to ensure the safety and well-being of civilians in the region. As the international community joins efforts to provide aid and support to Gaza, the hope for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis remains a top priority.
