CAIRO – 5 September 2023: Advisor to the Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, Hussein Abdel Aziz, Said Tuesday that the birth rates in Egypt during the past three years amounted to about 2.2 million births annually, ‘which shapes nearly the population of a small country.’

In televised statements, he explained that the recent population health survey confirms that the average number of children per every single woman is 2.85, meaning that every 10 mothers give birth to 28 to 29 children.

These surveys indicate according to Abdel Aziz that each family has 3 children.

The advisor to the head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization for Statistics added that in 2022 this rate decreased by 2.7 births, explaining that if births continue to increase at this rate, we will reach 122.5 million people in 2032, and therefore the economic growth rate must be three times higher than the Population growth.
