CAIRO – 15 August 2023: Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabbaj announced Monday the launch of a number of training programmes within the "Productive Student" initiative targeting 10,000 university students at 32 public and private universities.

The programmes are lasting until September in addition to 5,000 funding opportunities worth LE10,000 – LE15,000 each.

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Qabaj launched in December the second phase of the "Equal Opportunities" programme having as beneficiaries outstanding, disabled, and low-income students.

The "Equal Opportunities" programme was launched by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi early in 2021. As a result, the ministry distributed computers among visually-impaired junior, senior, and graduate students at 30 universities. In addition, it collaborated with "Ataa" investment fund to make it possible for visually-impaired students to join more schools.

The ministry also cooperated with Al Gameya Al Shareya – an NGO – to fund scholarships for 1,500 students at 300 schools divided on 30 universities. That is in addition to providing them with monthly allowance, health insurance, and financing for their research projects and participation in international academic conferences.

The second phase of "Equal Opportunities" targets the distribution of 1,500 laptops on visually-impaired students, 700 wheelchairs on disabled students, as well as hearing assistive devices. It also includes offering 3,000 scholarships to outstanding students.
