CAIRO – 25 July 2023: Egypt condemned Tuesday the suicide bombing that targeted on Monday a military training camp in the Somalian capital, Mogadishu, and that killed and injured dozens of troops, stressing solidarity with Somalia on combating all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism.

As reported by Reuters, the death toll amounts to 30, while the injuries stand at 73. The bombing was claimed by Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabab terrorist group, which has been carrying out attacks since it had been forced from many territories in the southern area by the Somalian army last year.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received in January his Somalian counterpart Absher Omar Gamea underscored Egypt's full solidarity with Somalia in the face of terrorism as well as its constant readiness to support Somalian forces in that realm and help the country deal with the daunting humanitarian and developmental challenges ensued from drought. That is in addition to providing medical aid and food.

The Egyptian minister stipulated that Egypt is keen on security and stability in Somalia, given its strategic location on the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the press statement indicated.
