OIC chief says efforts to achieve Iraq's national reconciliation to continue

CAIRO/JEDDAH - 18 July 2017: Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Yousef bin Ahmad Al Othaimeen on Tuesday affirmed that the organization would continue its effort to achieve a comprehensive national reconciliation in Iraq.

In a letter to Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al Jaafari, Othaimeen reiterated the OIC's firm position in support of Iraq's unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The letter was delivered by OIC Director General of Political Affairs Tarig Ali Bakheet during his meeting with Jaafari in Baghdad.

The OIC chief congratulated the Iraqi government on their victory on Daesh in Mosul.

He also renewed the organization's commitment to support Iraq in its reconstruction efforts for Mosul and other liberated cities.

For his part, Jaafari hailed the OIC's support for his country to achieve the national reconciliation and counter terrorism.
