CAIRO – 24 May 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry headed Wednesday to Geneva to hold consultations with chiefs of a number of United Nations agencies and international organizations on bilateral cooperation as well as regional and global issues.
Those include coordinating efforts on the Sudanese crisis, its impact, and ways of securing humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people. That is in addition to discussing with Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pederson plans for dealing with the Syrian crisis in the coming period, reinforcing international efforts to end it, and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people.
As for bilateral projects, the minister is scheduled to meet with Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths; United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filipo Grandi; High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk; and, newly-appointed Director-General of the International Organization for Migration Amy E. Pope.
