Egypt suspends hot-air balloon flights on Friday due to bad weather

CAIRO – 28 April 2023: The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority canceled hot-air balloon flights at the west of Luxor – the hot-air balloon airport- Friday morning due to bad weather and wind speed for the safety of tourists and local residents.

 

As about 52 balloon flights flew in the sky of the western mainland on Thursday, carrying more than 1,231 tourists from around the world on board, in an atmosphere of Delight among the tourists, under the supervision of Brigadier General Amr Atef, Land Manager of the Flying Balloon Airport in Luxor.

 

Luxor Governorate occupies an advanced rank in the classification of countries that operate in the balloon, as it occupies third place in the world.

 

All companies operating hot air balloons are committed to civil aviation instructions, which maintain the security and safety of the participants by following strict precautionary and preventive measures, including sterilizing all hot air balloons continuously.

 

Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the representative of the Federation of Flying Balloon Companies, says that after the cancellation of balloon flights over the past two days due to bad weather, the flights resumed Thursday as tourist group flow, and 52 balloon flights took off carrying 1,231 tourists aboard.
