Arkin urban crossing between Egypt and Sudan

CAIRO – 27 April 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday the reception of 16,000 non-Egyptians from Sudan through urban crossings, including 14,000 Sudanese, and 2,000 belonging to 50 other countries and 6 international organizations.

 

The Egyptian General Authority of Urban and Dry Ports issued a statement Wednesday indicating that that a number of embassies in Cairo, such as those of China and Norway, had coordinated with Egypt's ministries of foreign affairs and transportation among other state bodies to facilitate the entry of their nationals and provide them with the necessary care upon arrival. 

 

Further, the German Embassy in Cairo had thanked the country for helping to evacuate around 200 nationals in addition to 500 of other nationalities, who were all flown home on eight flights operated by Germany after their arrival in Egypt.

 

Also, the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo stated that 213 nationals entered the Egyptian territories through Arkin urban crossing, and that 194 of them would return to Gaza Strip through Rafah crossing, while the rest departed to other destinations from Cairo International Airport.

 

The ministry announced Wednesday that 1,140 citizens had been evacuated upping the total to 2,679, as 697 returned on seven flights, while 443 were transported through urban crossings.
