CAIRO – 23 April 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Egyptians in Sudan residing in areas other than Khartoum to be close to either of the consulates in Port Sudan or Wadi Halfa in preparation for evacuation.

The phone number of the consulate in Port Sudan is 00249906398621. Those of the consulate in Wadi Halfa are 00249118162679 and 00249116604033.

The ministry also called on Egyptians in Khartoum to stay home until the security conditions improve, allowing their evacuation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Saturday highlighting that it is coordinating with concerned state agencies, Sudanese authorities, embassy in Khartoum, and consulates in Port Sudan and Wadi Halfa to follow up on the conditions of Egyptians in Sudan in order to prepare for evacuation operations for those who want to leave.

The ministry urged Egyptians in Sudan to remain in their residences, and avoid areas experiencing tensions and insecurity. It also encouraged them to remain calm and maintain communication channels with the diplomatic missions in Sudan until they are provided with evacuation instructions.

The ministry indicated in a statement Friday that Egypt's bureau in Sudan's Wadi Halfa was coordinating with the Sudanese authorities to facilitate the evacuation of expats through urban crossings.
