CAIRO – 13 April 2023: Egypt welcomed Thursday the resumption of diplomatic ties between Qatar and Bahrain, and that was the outcome of the second meeting of the concerned committee, which took place Wednesday.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Egypt's support to all efforts aimed at consolidating relations between Arab states, and overcoming mutual challenges.
In a similar context, the first meeting between Egypt and Qatar, since restoring the relations that were severed in 2017, was held in February at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in downtown Cairo to discuss regional and international issues of common interest.
The meeting was headed by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs Ambassador Alaa Moussa, and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar for Regional Affairs Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.
In September, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi had held a two-day state visit to Doha, the first of its kind to Qatar, fulfilling the invitation of Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
