CAIRO – 9 February 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi warned against trusting "tendentious" websites that seek to create a strife between Egypt and its brotherly countries.

He made the remarks during the inauguration ceremony of the second stage of Silo Foods industrial city in El-Sadat City in the northern Menoufia governorate.

“Egypt appreciates the good relations with brothers and does not accept offense or the drift behind strife,” the spokesman quoted Sisi as saying, affirming that Egypt’s relations are “wise and balanced with everyone, especially brothers”.

Sisi underscored the firm relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and other brotherly countries in the wake of “abusive remarks” against the kingdom in media and on social media platforms.

“I realize on social media some excessive enthusiasm and abusive remarks about the relations with our brotherly nations. Please be cautious as this reflects how we understand and appreciate these relations,” Sisi stated.

Sisi warned Egyptians on social media from trusting "tendentious" websites that seek to create a strife between Egypt and the brotherly countries.

“We have good relations with all countries,” Sisi stressed, adding that this is an approach and a track that we the state has adopted even in great crises and disputes since he has assumed responsibility in 2014.

“We should not offend our brothers or forget their support to Egypt,” Sisi said, giving reference to "social media [posts] and some articles" about the Saudi kingdom and other countries.

He also underlined the current crisis between Egypt and Ethiopia regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), affirming that the state has not issued any offensive remarks or behavior against Ethiopia.

“Egypt's policy is characterized by moderation, balance, and extreme discipline toward everyone locally and internationally,” Sisi stressed.

Inaugurating Silo Foods

Silo Foods lies over an area of 346 square kilometers and includes a number of food factories that use the latest global technologies. The city also includes 14 grain silos and a complex for printing environmentally friendly product packaging.

Sisi inaugurated the mega food industries complex in August 2021 with the aim of providing school meals for millions of students nationwide.

During the inauguration ceremony, Sisi said the school feeding system in Egypt is stable and secure, affirming that the government works to ensure that the food items are appropriate for the students’ age.

He also spoke on progress in various state sectors, saying that the state has decided not to freeze work at all sectors in order to prioritize industry, which has high revenues.

“The state had to move ahead in all sectors all at once,” Sisi stressed.

Facilitating investment procedures

Sisi also noted that the state will facilitate the procedures for local and foreign investors, adding that the investors have direct communication with the president and the prime minister.

He highlighted the role of the private sector along with the state to implement businesses that reduce the gap between the foreign currency required for projects and the foreign currency available.

The president said the state has been working to reduce the gaps that resulted from the dramatic increase in population over the past 30-40 years and the state’s inability at the time to implement plans to cope with this increase.

Resolving commodity crisis

He also reassured citizens about the availability of commodities, hoping that “the crisis that we passed through would not happen again.”

There are 20,000 to 30,000 commodity outlets for the Ministry of Supply in addition to the outlets of the Ministry of Interior and the Armed Forces, which can bring the number to 35,000-40,000 outlets, which work to alleviate the global crisis, Sisi said.

Sisi also spoke about the varying prices of the same product in different stores, affirming that it is hard for the ministries of interior and supply to have a role in controlling the situation in this regard.

However, he called on citizens to not buy products from a store that sells them at a higher price.
