CAIRO – 9 February 2023: The Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expats indicated in a statement Thursday that there would be coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enable students whose universities were damaged in Turkey's earthquake and wish to continue their studies in Egypt.

Minister Soha Guendi pointed out that the majority of Egyptian expats in Turkey do not dwell the South where the natural disaster happened. Yet, there is a relatively small number of students in the area.

The minister highlighted that an engineering student called Moaz was extracted from beneath the rubbles and rescued, and that there are no human losses among Egyptians. She added that the embassy in Ankara is helping expats who lost their documents to issue new ones.

Guendi also thanked Egypt-based telecom companies for providing a free roaming service for a week between Egypt and Turkey to help families get reassured about the safety of their relatives.

The number of the Egyptian Embassy in Ankara is 00905497695566, and those of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus are 00963112144886 -  00963112144885.
